WHAT IS THE  PROBLEM?

As we listen to the news media, we hear of the many troubles in the world.  Often times we discuss the current events and suggest solutions to the various problems.  For example: right now there are many political issues that trouble our nation.  Most all of the politicians are shouting at each other, name calling and each professing to have the answer for our national dilemma.  “Listen to me,” one says, “that so and so is a liar... I know the truth and I have the best program...”
Then the other one shouts back, “No, no, everyone hear me well, he is a thief!.. I am the only one that can remedy our difficulties...” And it goes on and, back and forth!
Now, I realize that politics is very serious business in every civilized nation.  I also understand that Christians are divided among their political views.  However, everyone must unite on understanding the nature of our problem in society.  The problem in Greece is the same throughout Europe and the rest of the world.  It is a universal problem that politicians ignore and we must examine it honestly and openly.  Our problem, the problem in our world, the problem in our lives is SIN!

The Condition of Mankind
Sin has affected everyone.  The Bible says “there are none righteous...,” that includes me, you, doctors, lawyers, politicians, farmers, shopkeepers - everyone!  “For all have sinned...” (Rom.3:23)  Do you remember when Jesus spoke to the crowd about the woman who was caught in the act of adultery?  He said, “He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.... And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last” (John 8:7,9)  It is essential  to understand that our problem is admitting that we are all sinners and calling sin, “sin”!
Whatever happened to sin?  It used to be that men having sexual relations with men was evil.  Homosexuality is not natural, it is sin!  Today it is called an alternative life style or sexual preference.  These people cannot reproduce by having children, yet they claim they are normal. “...God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly” Romans 1:26,27).  The Word of God teaches us that homosexuality is NOT Natural, it is an abomination to God!
It used to be wickedness for a woman to have an abortion.  Killing a baby is sin!   But today, we have  so called “Women’s Rights” and irresponsible murders sanctioned by ungodly leaders all around the world!   The Bible speaks about the infant life in the womb.  “For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb” (Psalms 139:13).   A human life is certainly present in a pregnant woman.  “...when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb;” (Luke 1:41). They call it “free choice”, but abortion is sin.
There was a time when it was seriously wrong for children to disobey their parents and to rebel  against authority.  The bible teaches: “Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right  (Ephesians 6:1).  But now, in our society, young people are taught to freely express themselves, and the result is anarchy and a moral revolution.  Wild young people are involved in drugs, pornography and open sex...
We do not have the space to list even the most obvious sins, but I ask you to be honest with yourself and with God. This is our problem today, apathy, a lack of concern about sin.  The root of our problem is sin!  Whether it be as apparent as murder, adultery, stealing, etc., or more vague and personal like: Jealousy, Bitterness, Evil Thoughts...  Dear friend, our problem is still sin!

   The Compassion of Our Maker
The Lord created us and He knows that we are weak humans.  Jesus Christ came into our depraved world full of sinners and they rejected the Holy One.  And yet, we read many times where the Lord moved with compassion to heal the lepers, give the blind their sight, and to raise the dead.
Leprosy: A type or symbol of sin.
Blindness:  A symbol which speaks of mankind born spiritually blind, in the darkness of sin.
Dead raised:  Sin has a death sentence, and man is born dead in trespasses and sin, but is raised in the new life with Christ...
Jesus died to save sinners!  I submit to you that everyone who walks on this earth has a problem with sin!  We need the love and compassion of our Lord Jesus to forgive us.  Whatever happened to sin?  The truth is we must be humble and honest...

   The Cure for Our Misery!
The fact is sin brings misery and sadness to all of us.  The homosexuals wanted an alternative life-style, now they have AIDS.  Around the world, selfishness and sinful greed  has caused suffering for others.  Pride and clashing egos have turned peaceful nations into war-torn battlefields...  Men cannot be honest with themselves!  Our society needs help!  Christ is the Prince of Peace!  He is the only solution to our problems.  Jesus Christ brings peace into every heart that will turn seriously to Him.  The Cure is not Money...  The Cure is not Drugs...  The Cure is not being a Famous Star...  The Cure is not Power...  The Cure to our problem is confessing that you too are a sinner, and then receiving Jesus Christ into your heart and life. The cure is an honest look into the mirror of your soul.  What do you see?  I pray that you will call upon the name of the Lord and confess Him as your Lord and Saviour!
